Spin Control X YNOT Collaboration 2023

We at Spin Control take pride in the amount of talent that Breakin’ culture has to offer and we love to showcase what breakers can do both on and off the floor. When it comes to multi-disciplainary talent, one of the artists we wanted to showcase most is the one and only, Ynot. We are proud to announce a multi-leveled collaboration that includes a limited product release, international breakin’ event, and educational workshops! We’ll let him tell you about it in the video below.

私たちSpin Controlはブレイキンカルチャーにおける才能の多様性に感銘を受け、また、B-boy/B-girlがダンスフロア内外での表現方法や活動を多くの人々に紹介できることを嬉しく感じています。数多くいる才能の中で、私たちが紹介したいアーティストの1人は唯一無二のYnotです。今回、限定Tシャツの発売、ブレイキンのバトルイベントやワークショップの開催など、多岐に渡り彼とコラボレーションできることを大変光栄に思います。以下のビデオの通り、彼からメッセージをいただいています。

Ynot came onto our radar in the late 2000’s when he was travelling the world destroying beats with his toprocks. In addition to ripping it at jams, he would teach workshops about where the styles we see on top come from. You knew you were getting authentic knowledge from the source because he learned many of his styles from the legendary Mr. Wiggles of the Rock Steady Crew. Being from the East Coast, Ynot had access to the originators of not just breakin’ but all elements of Hip Hop culture including graffiti and other forms of art. That is exactly where we wanted to focus our attention when we came together for the tee aspect of this collaboration.

私たちがYnotと知り合ったのは2000年代後半――彼がトップロックやミュージカリティで有名になり、世界中を旅していたときでした。彼はバトルイベントでダンススタイルを披露することはもちろん、数々のワークショップでも教えていました。また、ロック・ステディ・クルーの伝説的なメンバーである、Mr. Wigglesから多くのスタイルを学んでいたため、オーセンチックな正真正銘のナレッジ（知識）があることがわかりました。アメリカ東海岸出身のYnotはブレイキンだけでなく、グラフィティなどのヒップホップカルチャーのあらゆる要素をオリジネーターから吸収していました。このコラボレーションではまさにその「正真正銘」な部分に注目したいと思っています。

Tee Design & Concept / Tシャツデザインとコンセプト

The theme of the artwork that lives on the back of the tee is how creativity spans multiple forms of expression. In the piece, Ynot’s bring his experience in both breaking and graffiti together to create a signature S that stands for Spin Control. It represents how both breaking, graffiti and the other forms of art that he practices all come from the same creative space, take the same amount of time, and creative energy. The design is simple, to the point, and most importantly an authentic handstyle from a lifelong student of the game.

このTシャツのデザインはクリエイティビティがあらゆる表現方法に紐づいているというコンセプトで作成しました。Ynotのブレイキングとグラフィティ両方の経験を組み合わせ、Spin Controlの頭文字を表す「S」をベースにしています。これはブレイキングやグラフィティなどの芸術的な表現方法は、全てクリエイティブな空間から生まれ、同じ量の時間とエネルギーを費やして完成することを表しています。デザインはシンプルですが、最も重要なポイントは、Ynotのようなヒップホップカルチャーの体現者による本物のグラフィティデザインであるということです。

One of our favorite parts of the tee is a hidden piece of artwork under the label that doubles as a certificate authenticity and highlights the limited factor of each print. Each label is individually numbered with handstyles that Ynot personally designed for this collaboration. Only 50 of each edition of the shirt will be made and each will have a number between 1 and 50. Customers will be able to choose the number and size that that they want when they purchase on a first come first serve basis. Number selection and made to order sizes end on June 8, 2023. After that, it’s luck of the draw for numbers and sizing cannot be guaranteed.

このT シャツの特徴の一つとして、タグに隠されたデザインがあり、限定Tシャツだということを証明しています。各タグにはこのコラボレーションのためにYnotがデザインしたグラフィティがナンバリングされています。各バージョンのTシャツは 50 枚限定で販売され、1から50までの番号が割り振られています。また、先着順で希望の番号が選択できます。番号の選択は2023年6月8日で終了となりますので、お見逃しなく。

We will be releasing two editions of the design. One available to the world and the other specifically for Japan because that is where the official release event will take place. The Worldwide design will be a white tee with black artwork. The Japan design will be on a black tee with white artwork. There will only be 50 of each edition released for a total of 100 shirts. The limited collaboration tees will be available for pre-order on June 1, 2023 at 6 PM (PST) / June 2, 2023 at 10 AM (JST). Japan Edition tees will be available for pickup on July 9, 2023 at the Japan Jam release event or can be mailed to Japanese addresses. Worldwide Edition tees will ship on July 10, 2023.

Tシャツは2種類のデザインをそれぞれワールドワイドと日本で販売する予定です。ワールドワイドのデザインは白いTシャツに黒いプリントが施されたもの、日本のデザインは黒いTシャツに白いプリントが施されています。各デザインは50枚の特別限定で、合計100枚のTシャツが販売されます。限定コラボレーションTシャツは2023年6月1日の午後6時（太平洋標準時）／6月2日午前10時（日本時間）より予約受付開始となります。日本限定のTシャツは、東京でのリリースイベントで受け取ることも可能ですし、指定の日本の住所に配送することもできます。ワールドワイドの限定Tシャツは 2023年7月10日から順次発送されます。

The Japan Jam / 東京のコラボレーションイベント

To mark the collaboration, Spin Control and Ynot are throwing a release event in Tokyo, Japan on July 9, 2023. Starting off with a workshop from Ynot in the morning and then unfolding into a battle featuring world renowned judges and guest battlers, this event is going to be WILD. Guests other than Ynot include Wing Zero (Found Nation), Nori (Flooriorz / Take Notice), Abere (Waseda Breakers), DJ Mar, DJ Tee, DJ Fleg and more. Battle categories include a 3 VS 3 breakin’ battle and 1 VS 1 Top Rock battle. Guest battlers will be announced leading up to the event so follow our Instagram to find out what we have in store! 

このコラボレーションを記念して、Spin ControlとYnotは2023年7月9日に東京でリリースイベントを開催します。このイベントはYnotによる特別なワークショップから始まり、世界的に有名なジャッジとゲストバトラーも参加するバトルイベントへと発展します。Ynot以外のゲストには、Wing Zero (Found Nation)、Nori (Flooriorz / Take Notice)、Abere (Waseda Breakers)、DJ Mar、DJ Tee、DJ Flegなどのそうそうたるメンバーが参加します。バトルカテゴリーは3on3のブレイキンバトルと1on1のトップロックバトルが予定されています。ゲストバトラーはイベント前に発表されるので、Spin Controlのインスタグラムにて事前にチェックしてください。
